Confocal Raman spectroscopy uses a laser to analyze molecular vibrations within a material. The information can be used for identification. Since the technique combines optical microscopy with Raman spectroscopy, spatial (vertical and horizontal) resolution is obtained. The technique is especially useful for microscopic defect analysis, also on small samples, and different laser wavelengths are used to analyze composition, either organic or inorganic. Analyses can be performed in 1D, 2D and 3D with spot sizes of less than 1,0 μm.

Confocal raman spectroscopy is perfect for research the Molecular fingerprint of most organic and inorganic materials.
