A single screw extruder can be used to shape a thermoplastic material into a continuous filament or tape. The equipment used is a Dr. Collin Teachline E20T with a range of heads, such as different sizes monofilament and tape (2 cm). The screw diameter is 20 mm and L/D ratio of 24 with a maximum temperature of 300 °C.
