The stretching line elongates tapes and/or fibers in one direction to orient the polymer molecules, improving mechanical properties such as stiffness and tensile strength in that direction. The custom-built stretching line used for this process consists of an oven, three draw units and a winder. The oven plates and rolls have separate temperature controls and the drawing speed is variable in several areas forcing the material to be stretched at specific ratios. After stretching, the resulting oriented monofilaments or tapes are wound onto metal or plastic tubes.
